Snoring & sleep apnea
Calm, restorative nights again.
Snoring is the sound made by the vibration of the soft palate and throat tissues when air passes through narrowed airways. It only happens during sleep: muscles relax and the tongue tends to fall back, reducing the airway. When the airway closes at times, it is called sleep apnea.
For mild to moderate forms, a custom mandibular advancement device, combined with lifestyle measures (especially weight loss), is an effective treatment: by holding the lower jaw slightly forward at night, it keeps the airway open. Severe forms usually call for a CPAP machine or surgery; the device is then an alternative when CPAP is not tolerated. Treatment is coordinated with your doctor or a sleep specialist.
Step by step
How it works
- 01
Consultation & assessment
Sleep questionnaire, examination of the mouth and jaw joints; a sleep study prescribed by a doctor confirms the diagnosis.
- 02
Digital impression
Intraoral scan of both arches to design a perfectly fitting device.
- 03
Fitting & adjustment
Delivery of the device, instructions for use and gradual adjustment of the advancement.
- 04
Follow-up
Regular check-ups and effectiveness review with your doctor.
Digital impression
The BLZ INO200 intraoral scanner
Instead of impression paste, a small camera records your teeth in 3D in moments. This digital model is the basis for smile design, crowns, aligners and night guards.
- No impression paste, more comfortable
- A 3D model of your teeth on screen
- Precise, well-fitting custom work
Frequently asked questions
Is snoring dangerous?
Simple snoring is mostly a nuisance. With breathing pauses, fatigue or daytime sleepiness, it may indicate sleep apnea, which must be diagnosed and treated.
Is the device comfortable?
It is custom-made and adjusted gradually. A short adaptation period is normal; most patients then wear it without difficulty.
Do I need to see a sleep doctor?
If apnea is suspected, yes: a sleep study confirms the diagnosis and its severity. We work in coordination with your doctor.
