Bone grafting
Rebuilding bone to support an implant.
After a tooth is lost, the jawbone can shrink. A bone graft restores the volume needed to place an implant in good conditions.
Depending on the case, this can be socket preservation after an extraction, guided bone regeneration or a sinus lift.
Step by step
How it works
- 01
Bone volume assessment
3D imaging (CBCT) to measure the available bone precisely.
- 02
Graft
Placement of the graft material under local anaesthesia.
- 03
Maturation
A few months of healing before the implant is placed.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the grafted bone come from?
We mostly use biocompatible bone substitutes, which avoids a second surgical site.
Is the procedure painful?
It is done under local anaesthesia. Recovery is usually similar to an extraction.
Can the implant be placed at the same time?
Sometimes, yes. It depends on the initial bone volume; we discuss it during the assessment.
